Born in Denmark, Mads ultimately found his way to America. Trained as an electrical engineer, Mads sculptures are a fusion of his uniquely written software and the intangible qualities of his artist practice. Christensen is one of a few to have achieved acclaim in the digital light realm. Following the path of others like Dan Flavin, and Olafur Eliasson, Mads transforms space with an object common but intentionally shaped to uniquely enliven a space. No one work is the same because of the programming given to each work. No pattern repeats in an exact sequence.
My work pulls from these fundamental entities, expressing light and time in new ways that remind us where we all came from.
