L'Enfant au Biscuit (Jean Renoir), c. 1898-1899 is by Peirre Auguste Renoir. A color lithograph on Ingres d'Arches paper with MBM watermark. Signed in the plate lower left "Renoir" Only state. Edition: 100 plus some trial proofs. Stones effaced. Provenance: Clot collection. There is a variation in colors. Some proofs have as many as eight colors (grey, green, rose, red, blue, back, yellow and white). The printer, Clot, is thought to have added the blue to the eyes and the white to the face and background; these impressions are rare. Some additional proofs were printed in grey-black and some trial proofs with a pale rose for the face and hands were also printed. The proof with the signature on the stone is rare. Jean Renoir was the second son of the artist (STELLA 31). Stella 31 Delteil 31 |
